The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to public universities that are yet to begin their 2025 admission processes: act now or risk losing your candidates.
In a statement released on Friday, JAMB reminded all institutions of the resolutions agreed upon during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on July 18. The meeting, chaired by Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, outlined strict timelines to ensure a smooth and unified academic calendar across tertiary institutions.
According to the agreement:
Public universities were expected to submit their first-choice admission lists by September 30.
Private universities were given until October 31.
Polytechnics and colleges of education have until December 31 to conclude their admissions.
JAMB emphasized that these deadlines are crucial for maintaining order and efficiency in Nigeria’s higher education system.
However, the board expressed concern that some public universities have yet to upload any admission recommendations to the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS)—the official platform for all admissions.
Universities named for non-compliance include:
1. Northwest University, Kano
2. Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil
3. University of Science and Technology, Wudil
4. Benue State University, Makurdi
5. Abdulkadir Kure University
6. Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna
7. Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo
8. Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua
JAMB warned that if these institutions do not comply promptly, the board will automatically transfer their unprocessed candidates to other available institutions, as stipulated in the policy.
The board urged the universities to act immediately to avoid jeopardizing their students' academic futures.
