JAMB Tells 2026 UTME/DE Candidates to Create Profiles Before Registration Begins

JAMB has urged 2026 UTME and Direct Entry candidates to create their profiles ahead of registration, ensuring their details — especially NIN — are correct to avoid delays when the process begins. Learn how early actions can streamline your registration.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has called on all aspiring candidates for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) to create their registration profiles ahead of the official commencement of the exercise.

In a statement issued this week, JAMB emphasized that timely profile creation will streamline the registration process when the portal opens, reducing delays and preventing last-minute challenges. Prospective candidates are advised to ensure that their personal information, especially their National Identification Number (NIN), is properly verified and correctly linked before initiating the process.

The Board’s appeal comes as it prepares to launch the 2026 UTME/DE registration period, expected to begin at any moment. Candidates are reminded that incorrect details can lead to avoidable setbacks during registration and the examination itself, reinforcing the need for early action.

JAMB’s advice aligns with broader efforts to improve access to higher education and optimise the admissions process. The UTME and DE examinations remain key gateways for entry into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions.
