The 2026/2027 university admission process is underway, and candidates who participated in the admission screening exercises of various Nigerian universities are beginning to see admission updates. If you applied to any of the universities listed below, you should take this update seriously and check your admission status.
Admission lists are often released in batches, meaning that not being admitted in an earlier batch does not necessarily mean that your admission process is over. Some institutions may release merit, second, third, fourth or subsequent batches as the admission exercise continues.
JAMB's Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is the official system used to process admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions, and candidates can check their admission status through the JAMB platform. (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board)

How to Check Your 2026/2027 Admission Status
If your university is on the list, the next step is to check your admission status through the appropriate official platform.
1. Check your university's admission portal
Many universities publish their admission lists or admission-status checking portals on their official websites.
Look for sections such as:
* Admission Status
* Undergraduate Admission
* 2026/2027 Admission
* Admission List
* Post-UTME Portal
Make sure you use the official university website rather than an unverified website or social-media link.
2. Check your admission status on JAMB CAPS
Candidates should also check their admission status through the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
JAMB explains that CAPS was created to automate the admission process and allows candidates to check their admission status and confirm provisional admissions. (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board)

You can also access your JAMB services through the official e-Facility portal.

What If Your Admission Status Says "Not Admitted"?
Don't panic immediately.
Universities can release admission lists in different batches, and candidates may not all receive admission at the same time.
For example, the information above includes:
* Merit admission lists
* Second-batch lists
* Third-batch lists
* Fourth-batch lists
Therefore, candidates whose names are not on an early list should continue monitoring both their university admission portal and JAMB CAPS.
However, candidates should pay attention to their institution's official admission deadlines and instructions.
What If You Have Been Offered Admission?
If you have received an admission offer, carefully follow the instructions provided by your institution.
You may need to:
1. Accept the admission offer through JAMB CAPS where applicable.
2. Print your JAMB admission letter.
3. Complete the university's acceptance process.
4. Pay the required acceptance fee within the stated deadline.
5. Complete online clearance or physical screening.
6. Upload or submit required documents.
7. Pay applicable school charges.
8. Complete registration.
JAMB has stated that admissions offered by tertiary institutions must be processed through JAMB, and candidates are advised to verify their admission through the official JAMB system. (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board)
Important Warning to 2026/2027 Candidates
Be careful of admission scams.
As admission lists are being released, scammers may take advantage of anxious candidates by claiming that they can:
* Change an admission status;
* "Upgrade" a candidate's JAMB score;
* Guarantee admission;
* Add a candidate's name to an admission list;
* Obtain admission through an unofficial channel.
Do not give your JAMB password, profile code or other sensitive account information to strangers.
Always verify admission information through the official university portal and JAMB platforms.
Keep Checking Your Admission Status
Admission is not necessarily released to all candidates at once. Some institutions may continue releasing additional lists as their admission exercises progress.
Candidates should therefore regularly check:
University admission portal → JAMB CAPS → official university announcements
JAMB's CAPS system supports admission processing in batches, and candidates can check their status as their admissions are processed. (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board)
Finally, If you applied to any of the universities listed in this article for the 2026/2027 academic session, now is the time to check your admission status.
Don't rely solely on messages from friends, WhatsApp groups or social-media posts. Confirm your status through the official university admission portal and JAMB CAPS.
If you have been offered admission, follow the institution's instructions carefully and complete the required steps before the deadline.
